Assos, around the village of Behramkale, is one of the most beautiful ancient sites on the Aegean. The Temple of Athena stands on a volcanic hilltop looking across the sea to the Greek island of Lesbos; below, a tiny stone harbour holds a handful of hotels.
Aristotle lived here for a time and founded a school. We plan Assos as a slow, atmospheric stop between Çanakkale and Ayvalık, with the olive groves of the Kazdağları mountains behind it.
