Mount Nemrut
Giant stone heads of gods and a king, on a mountaintop at sunrise.
On the summit of Mount Nemrut, at more than 2,100 metres, the 1st-century BC king Antiochus I of Commagene built a tomb-sanctuary guarded by colossal statues of himself and the gods. Their heads now sit on the ground beside the terraces.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most dramatic places in Türkiye, best seen at sunrise or sunset. We combine it with Şanlıurfa and the southeast.

May–October. The summit road can close in winter because of snow.

Both are spectacular. Sunrise is more popular; sunset is often warmer and less crowded.
How cold is it on top of Mount Nemrut?
Even in summer it can be cold and windy at sunrise, so bring warm layers.
