Erzurum is one of the highest cities in Türkiye, at around 1,900 metres, and one of the coldest. It holds some of the finest Seljuk and Saltukid architecture in Anatolia.
In winter, the nearby Palandöken slopes offer reliable snow; in summer, Erzurum is a gateway to the mountains of the east.
