Why Bursa
Bursa was the Ottomans' first capital, and it still wears the title. Early imperial mosques and tombs, a silk trade centuries old, and thermal springs sit beneath Uludağ, the mountain that gives the city its nickname, "Green Bursa."
It is an easy, rewarding contrast to the coast — history, hammams and a UNESCO village, all within reach of Istanbul.
