Amasya
Ottoman houses on a river, beneath the rock tombs of ancient kings.
Amasya is a small city in a narrow river gorge, with a row of Ottoman timber houses along the Yeşilırmak and the rock-cut tombs of the Pontic kings in the cliffs above. It was an important training ground for Ottoman princes.
It is one of the most picturesque towns in Anatolia and still little visited by international travellers. It pairs naturally with a Black Sea or central Anatolia route.
